They Had Several Needs

At the time, the global pet care market was estimated to reach $155.8 billion USD by 2020 and was projected to be worth more than $197.6 billion by 2027.
While PETCO’s brand is well-established in the U.S and widely acclaimed for innovation and excellence, the company had not previously focused on international expansion.
With global growth projected to be 3.5% CAGR, PETCO saw an opportunity to identify a path for global expansion, increase revenue, and expand operations.
There were several new markets for PETCO to consider as their launchpad for international expansion, while ensuring the most efficient use of resources abroad.

It was determined that using an established retailer to sell their products provided the most potential for success, but they needed help identifying and cultivating a partnership with the right retailer(s) in the new market.
